A new member for the COEP

HEIDELBERG, Germany & CARLSBAD, Calif.—Thermo Fisher Scientific and the Institute of Pathology Heidelberg (IPH) have inked a deal to add the Center of Molecular Pathology at Heidelberg University Hospital as the newest member of the Next Generation Sequencing Companion Dx Center of Excellence Program (COEP). Under this agreement, the IPH Center of Molecular Pathology will work with Thermo Fisher and pharmaceutical partners to conduct studies and clinical trials under the leadership of Prof. Peter Schirmacher, director of the Institute of Pathology of Heidelberg University Hospital. The IPH Center of Molecular Pathology is the second organization added to the COEP, joining the Institute of Medical Genetics and Pathology at University Hospital Basel. The goal of the program is to advance the development of oncology companion diagnostics in Europe through the establishment of strategic collaborations.
