CRL supplies Pfizer’s genetically modified research models
April 2011

WILMINGTON, Mass.—Charles River Laboratories International Inc. (CRL) has established a marketing and distribution agreement with Pfizer Inc. in order to provide the global biomedical research field with a selection of genetically modified research models developed by Pfizer. As a result, CRL will supply some of Pfizer's pre-competitive, transgenic research models, which were developed across such areas as neuroscience, diabetes and cardiovascular disease. The agreement "aligns with Pfizer's strategy to externalize our pre-competitive tools and assets," remarks Rick Connell, vice president and worldwide head of external research solutions at Pfizer's Center of Excellence. Dr. Iva Morse, corporate vice president of global research model services at CRL, says the company appreciates that Pfizer chose it "to bring their unique models to market," and adds that the "biomedical research community will undoubtedly benefit from access to Pfizer's world-class transgenic model portfolio."
