November 2013
SHARING OPTIONS:

WAKEFIELD, Mass.—Nonprofit organization the tranSMART Foundation has announced the release of tranSMART version 1.1, a cloud-based data-sharing solution. It was originally developed as an internal project by Johnson & Johnson, and frees users from having to purchase commercial software while integrating new contributions from the developer community. The tranSMART Foundation is a partnership between the Imperial College London, the University of Michigan and the Pistoia Alliance that aims to support effective sharing, integration, standardization and analysis of heterogeneous data from collaborative translational research through the tranSMART open-source and open-data community. Dr. Brian Athey, CEO of  the tranSMART Foundation, said the organization hopes “that through this platform scientists will have the ability to effectively collaborate using pre- competitive data—facilitating quicker and more cost-effective translational medicine research.”
