NCCN, Society of Nuclear Medicine seek oncology imaging advancement
FORT WASHINGTON, Pa.—The National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) and the Society of Nuclear Medicine (SNM) recently entered into a collaboration with the purpose of advancing research regarding cancer imaging and therapies. NCCN will be working with SNM to qualify imaging sites for pending research projects that will utilize molecular imaging in clinical trials. The NCCN Specialized Imaging Research Consortium (SIRC) seeks the advancement of cancer patients ' treatment through the application of specialized imaging technologies, specifically through clinical trials. SNM's Clinical Trials Network will assist the trials by qualifying NCCN member institutions in an effort to guarantee standardization, by way of scanner validation and a review of personnel, research experience and site infrastructure. In addition, SNM will provide training on clinical research, methodology in clinical trials and imaging topics.
