Microarray analysis makes strong showing in
miscarriage testing
August 2016
SHARING OPTIONS:
IRVINE, Calif.—CombiMatrix Corp. has announced the publication of data from a retrospective study showing a high success rate and superior diagnostic power
of chromosomal microarray analysis for recurrent pregnancy loss testing. The company analyzed more than 8,000 consecutive products of conception samples,
with results obtained successfully for more than 90 percent of the cases, compared to success rates of 60 to 80 percent for samples evaluated with the
standard approach of karyotyping.
“Our high success rate with evaluating challenging POC samples includes both fresh
and formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded samples, thus providing significant advantages and options to clinicians and providers. Further, the ability of single
nucleotide polymorphism-based microarray analysis to identify aneuploidy, polyploidy, whole-genome homozygosity, segmental genomic imbalances and maternal
cell contamination maximizes sensitivity and decreases the number of false-negative results,” commented study author Dr. Trilochan Sahoo,
CombiMatrix’s vice president of clinical affairs and director of cytogenetics.
